Bucaramanga's Climate
Bucaramanga sits on a plateau roughly 950–1,000 m up on the eastern slopes of the Andes, in Santander department of northeastern Colombia. Its moderate elevation and near-equatorial position give it a mild tropical highland climate that stays warm and pleasant all year, earning it the nickname "city of eternal spring." Daytime highs usually run 24–30°C while nights cool to around 18–20°C, with little variation from month to month. Rather than four seasons, the year splits into two rainier spells (roughly April–May and September–November) separated by drier periods, with afternoon showers and thunderstorms. UV levels are often very high given the low latitude.
