Donetsk's Climate
Donetsk lies on the Donbas steppe in south-eastern Ukraine, deep inland at around 200 metres, giving it a humid continental climate with a wide seasonal temperature range. Summers (June–August) are hot and relatively dry, usually 25–30°C with occasional heat-driven thunderstorms, while winters (December–February) are cold and snowy, hovering around -3 to -8°C with sharp cold snaps when easterly winds arrive. Spring and autumn are short transitional seasons, with September and October pleasantly mild. Steppe winds and periodic summer droughts are defining features of the region.
