Kinshasa's Climate
Kinshasa sits on the southern bank of the Congo River in the west of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, an inland equatorial city at about 280 m elevation. It has a tropical savanna climate (Koppen Aw) that stays hot and humid for most of the year, with daytime highs usually of 28–33°C. The long wet season runs from October to May, bringing heavy showers, powerful thunderstorms and very high humidity, while a cooler dry season from June to September stays overcast with low cloud, little rain and occasionally chilly early mornings. Being south of the equator, its coolest spell falls mid-year.
