Mbuji-Mayi's Climate
Mbuji-Mayi lies in south-central Democratic Republic of the Congo, on an inland plateau at around 700 m, giving it a hot, humid tropical savanna climate with fairly steady temperatures all year. Daytime highs are usually 28–32°C, with nights softened by the elevation. Sitting just south of the equator, the year splits into a long rainy season from September to May, bringing afternoon showers and strong thunderstorms, and a short, cooler dry season from about June to August. Humidity is high through the wet season, making it feel muggy, while the dry season is clearer and markedly less rainy.
