Kolwezi's Climate
Kolwezi sits on the mineral-rich plateau of Lualaba Province in the southern Democratic Republic of the Congo, at about 1,500m, giving it a mild highland subtropical climate (Köppen Cwa) far cooler than the tropical lowlands. Being in the southern hemisphere, its year splits in two: a hot, humid wet season from November to March with frequent afternoon thunderstorms and highs of 27–30°C, and a cool, very dry season from May to September with clear skies, days of 26–28°C but nights that can drop to 6–10°C. June and July are the coolest months, sometimes chilly after dark.
