Kota Bharu's Climate
Kota Bharu sits in the northeast of peninsular Malaysia, right on the South China Sea near a river mouth and the Thai border, with a hot, humid tropical monsoon climate and consistently high temperatures year-round. Days usually run 30–33°C and nights around 23–25°C, with humidity always high. Its defining feature is the intense wet season when the northeast monsoon arrives from about November to January, bringing prolonged heavy rain and flood risk to the east coast. The remaining months are drier but still see scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms, with March to August typically the least rainy.
