Ahvaz's Climate
Ahvaz lies on the Khuzestan plain in southwestern Iran, on the Karun River, inland from the Persian Gulf, and has one of the harshest hot-desert climates on Earth. Summers from May to September are extremely hot and dry, with daytime temperatures typically 45–48°C and able to exceed 50°C, often accompanied by thick dust storms. Winters from December to February are short and far milder, with daytime highs around 16–20°C, cool nights, and the year's rare rainfall. Spring and autumn are brief transitions between the fierce heat.
