Kermanshah's Climate

Kermanshah lies in western Iran on a highland plateau at the foot of the Zagros Mountains, around 1,400 m above sea level, giving it a continental semi-arid climate with a large swing between day and night temperatures. Summers (June–September) are hot and very dry, typically 33–38°C by day but cooling pleasantly after dark, while winters (December–February) are cold, often below freezing, with snow settling on the surrounding peaks. Rain falls mainly in late autumn, winter and early spring, leaving spring (March–May) green and cool and autumn dry and clear.
