Benin City's Climate
Benin City lies in southern Nigeria, in the low rainforest belt near the Niger delta and not far from the Gulf of Guinea coast, giving it a hot, humid tropical monsoon climate year-round. There are essentially two seasons: a long rainy season from April to October brings heavy showers and violent thunderstorms, peaking in June through September with very high rainfall, while the dry season from November to March is sunnier and hotter, with the dry, dusty harmattan wind blowing in off the Sahara. Daytime temperatures hover at 28–34°C all year, and high humidity keeps it feeling muggy.
