Gqeberha's Climate
Gqeberha (formerly Port Elizabeth) sits on the shores of Algoa Bay on the Indian Ocean in the Eastern Cape, South Africa; being in the southern hemisphere, its seasons are reversed from the north. The city has a mild, humid oceanic climate with a small temperature range and is famously windy all year. Summers (December–February) are warm and pleasant, typically 20–26°C, rarely oppressive thanks to sea breezes. Winters (June–August) are cool and gentle, around 12–18°C by day, and seldom cold. Rain falls fairly evenly across the months, a little heavier in late summer and autumn.
