Jos's Climate
Jos sits on the Jos Plateau in central Nigeria, at around 1,200 metres, which makes it noticeably cooler and more comfortable than most of the country despite lying deep in the tropics. Its climate splits into two seasons: a long rainy season from April to October brings showers, thunderstorms and plenty of cloud, with daytime highs usually 22–28°C; the dry season from November to March is sunny and clear, and during the harmattan months (December–February) nights can fall to 8–12°C, an unusual chill for Nigeria. Thanks to the altitude, days rarely feel oppressive and the day-to-night temperature swing is large.
