Al Mawşil al Jadīdah's Climate
Al Mawşil al Jadīdah is a district of Mosul in northern Iraq, set beside the Tigris on an inland plain near the foothills, and has a hot semi-arid climate. Summers (June–September) are extremely hot and dry with relentless sun and almost no rain, daytime highs typically 40–46°C, while winters (December–February) are noticeably cooler and wetter, with showers, occasional frost and very rare snow, dropping to 4–12°C. Spring and autumn are short, warm and pleasant transition seasons. Almost all of the year's rainfall arrives in the cold months.
