Sadr City's Climate
Sadr City is a densely populated district in the north-east of Baghdad, in central Iraq, sitting inland on the Mesopotamian plain, which gives it a hot desert climate with two sharply contrasting seasons. Summers (May–September) are extremely hot and dry, with daytime highs usually 42–48°C, glaring sun and almost no rain, plus occasional dust storms blown in from nearby desert; winters (December–February) are mild and cool, around 15–18°C by day and dipping toward 4–6°C at night. Annual rainfall is very low and concentrated in the winter and spring months. Low humidity keeps the heat dry and fierce.
