Kazan's Climate
Kazan stands on the Volga River in western Russia, deep in the East European interior, with a humid continental climate marked by a wide swing between seasons. Winters (November–March) are very cold and long, usually -10 to -15°C, with spells below -25°C, deep snow cover for months and the river freezing over, while summers (June–August) are warm, short and fairly pleasant, with daytime highs of 20–26°C and occasional thunderstorms. Spring and autumn are brief, fast-changing, cloudy and damp. Rain falls year-round but peaks in summer.
