Yekaterinburg's Climate
Yekaterinburg lies on the eastern slopes of the Ural Mountains in central Russia, at a fairly high latitude and deep inland, giving it a humid continental climate (Köppen Dfb) with wide swings between seasons. Winter (November–March) is long, very cold and snowy, with temperatures often −12 to −20°C and colder spells beyond that, while summer (June–August) is short but pleasantly warm, usually 18–25°C with occasional afternoon thunderstorms. Spring and autumn are brief transitional seasons that stay cool and cloudy. Deep snow cover lasting for months is the hallmark of this Urals city.
