Krasnoyarsk's Climate
Krasnoyarsk lies on the Yenisei River in central Siberia, Russia, deep inland and far from any ocean, giving it a harsh humid continental climate with an enormous swing between seasons. Winters (November–March) are long, bitterly cold and dry, with daytime highs of −12 to −20°C, deep cold snaps below −30°C and thick snow cover lasting for months. Summers (June–August) are short but pleasantly warm, usually 20–25°C and occasionally topping 30°C, punctuated by afternoon thunderstorms. Spring and autumn are brief, rapid transitions. Below the upstream dam the Yenisei stays unfrozen, feeding winter fog over the city.
