Medan's Climate
Medan is the largest city on Sumatra and the capital of North Sumatra, Indonesia, set on the north-eastern coastal plain near the Strait of Malacca and only a few degrees from the equator. It has a tropical rainforest climate, hot and humid all year, with daytime highs usually of 30–33°C and high humidity throughout. There is no cold season; instead the year splits into wetter and drier spells. Showers and thunderstorms tend to build in the late afternoon and evening on most days, heaviest from about September to December, while January to March is usually drier.
