Surabaya's Climate
Surabaya, Indonesia's second-largest city, sits on the northeastern coast of Java near the equator in the southern hemisphere and has a hot, humid tropical monsoon climate all year. Temperatures barely shift between seasons, with daytime highs usually 30–34°C and high humidity that feels sultry. The year splits into two seasons: a wet season (roughly November–April) with frequent afternoon showers and thunderstorms and very high humidity, and a dry season (May–October) that is sunnier and less rainy but still hot and muggy. As a low-lying port, Surabaya runs hot and can see localised flooding in heavy rain.
